I got myself a pair of these in the weekend. Mine are cuter because they have a red stripe going around them, not a boring black one. My pair are also the traditional canvas, not leather like I think the shoe in this pic is.
I went out to buy a new pair of chucks because I loved my original black pair to death. I must have got my black pair about 6 years ago and they are still in an ok condition. I wanted to get white ones for a change, but when I tried them on they looked so bulky - must be that I am used to wearing ballet flats and I am now accustomed to how they look. So, I tried on the thin soled ones, and wallah - now I have them (after paying of course - I didn't just run out of the shop).
The thin soled chucks look a lot like 'keds' which are quite popular right now, but I think the Chuck Taylors will be easier to keep clean because of the rubber piece across the toe. If I was smart and got a leather pair, rather than canvas, they would be even easier to keep clean. Oh well :)
I got my pair from Real Groovy in Auckland – they had a good range, and my boyfriend Scott got $20 of the leather high-top chucks he wanted with the points he clocked up on his Real Groovy card when I purchased mine. Searching around I also found that Footlocker stocks them too.
